Have a few minutes? Join me for a moment with God

Updated: Jun 13, 2024

Have 7 minutes? Join me for a moment with God | Niecristal

You don't need more time or materials; You need a renewed mindset about being in God's presence.

Let's worship God together for a moment. Choose a theme below that speaks to you the most for this season.

1: Returning to God

Returning to God | 1 John 1:9-10

Returning to God: 1 John 1:9-10

Scripture:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:9-10)

Application:

A lot of times when we recognize our sins, we naturally want to run away from God. Because sin cannot stand in the presence of holiness. But we have nowhere to hide, the only way to be set free is to bring our sins before God's holy throne, and receive His complete cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ as we commit to repent and change our way of life.

Have you been running away from God? It's time to come home. Your shame, wound, and hurt will only heal completely in His presence of light.

Prayer:

Dear merciful God, You knew I would fail You, but still You reached out to me to make way for me to come back to You through the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. Today I will run no more. Here I am, LORD. Your grace has found me and brought me home. Forgive me for how I have sinned against You. Help me to live a life that's worthy of Your love for me. Thank You for making me new, I pray this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

2: Loving yourself

Loving yourself | Psalm 139:13-14

Loving yourself: Psalm 139:13-14

Scripture:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)

Application:

When you think about others who appear to be more successful and blessed than you, don't ever feel small of yourself. Because God created every part of you in thoughtful detail.

This week before you sleep every night, think about a part of your life that you always feel small about, and find a good reason to sincerely thank God for it.

Prayer:

Dear heavenly Father, I praise You for Your beautiful and amazing creation in me. Help me to see myself through Your eyes of love, and teach me to celebrate every part of me that You have fearfully and wonderfully made. Whenever I feel small, remind me quickly that You who created the universe called me beautiful. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

3: Being a blessing

Being a blessing | Matthew 28:18-20

Being a blessing | Matthew 28:18-20

Scripture:

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)

Application:

Every Christian is called to firstly be a disciple of Christ, and then make disciples of others as well.

You can be more proactive in living out this greatest commission this week, by sharing with more people your personal story of how you have given your life to Jesus and what He has done in your life.

Prayer:

Dear God Almighty, I bless Your name for You who are above all names have called me to be Your disciple in Christ. It is not by my work but by Your grace alone. Mold my life and prepare my heart to go and make disciples for You. Give me a heart of consistent obedience to You as I also teach others to obey Your Word. I ask that Your Holy Spirit be with me through every conversation and every journey and that my words and my life will bring glory to You. Amen in the name of Jesus Christ.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

4: Faith in action

Faith in action | Romans 8:28

Faith in action | Romans 8:28

Scripture:

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, who have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Application:

Are you stuck in choosing between two paths right now? Consider all your options according to what has been taught about them in the Bible.

Then choose the one that gives you the most peace and move onwards with it - take that leap. Even if this doesn't turn out to be the best choice, trust that God can steer you into the right path through it, for you have considered His Word as you made that decision earlier.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank You for always working out all things for my good even when I didn't choose to obey You at times. Give me wisdom from heaven and lead me to make the right decision for this matter that has been troubling me. Give me Your peace and comfort so that I can be confident that no matter how it turns out, You will make it right for me. I give You all the glory, amen in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

5: Consistent obedience

Consistent obedience | 1 Corinthians 10:13

Consistent obedience | 1 Corinthians 10:13

Scripture:

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Application:

Recall some of the old habits you have promised God to change that you are still struggling with. Set this Scripture as reminders on your phone during the times that you are usually most tempted.

Think of one practical way to overcome this temptation, and include it in your reminders. So that when you see the reminders, you know exactly what to do to be victorious.

Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for being so patient with me. Forgive me for the times when I chose to please myself instead of You. Help me with my struggle, LORD. Send people and reminders to encourage me each day. Lead me with Your Holy Spirit, so I will not gratify the desires of my sinful nature. You are faithful, teach me to draw strength from Your joy. Amen in the precious name of Jesus Christ.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

6: Planning while trusting

Planning while trusting | John 15:4-5

Planning while trusting | John 15:4-5

Scripture:

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:4-5)

Application:

This week as you go about your working hours, pay attention to see where God's hands work in your favor at your workplace.

Whenever you face any challenging task, be alert to quickly surrender it to God for guidance and intervention.

Prayer:

Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your gracious salvation through Your Son Jesus Christ! As I learn to abide in You, grant me fruitfulness in all the works of my hands. I give You all praise and honor, for all my talents and all my achievements are from You alone. Make my life at work worthy of Your glory, LORD. I pray this in Jesus Christ's most precious and powerful name, amen.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

7: Money and generosity

Money and generosity | 1 Timothy 6:9-10

Money and generosity | 1 Timothy 6:9-10

Scripture:

People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)

Application:

Money is only one of the many blessings God has given us in our life on earth.

God is not asking us to stay poor, He is asking us to seek Him first in everything we do, while He promises to take care of our needs every day.

When you are making decisions, always check your heart if you have put God as the center of your life, or have you let money determine where you go and what you do.

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, forgive me for the times I have put money or anything else before You. Cleanse my heart from the love of money and the things of this world, and soften my heart to desire and love You again above all else. I humble myself before You, I know You can give and You can take away. Thank You for always loving me even in my selfishness and pride. LORD, I dedicate my life to You again. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Be still for a few minutes and wait upon the LORD to hear from Him.

Finding rest in God | Philippians 4:6-7

Scripture:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Application:

Have you been worrying about something? Come into God's rest, and let His peace guard your mind from thinking about all the problems, but fill your heart with all the reasons to give thanks.

Prayer:

Dear God my Father in heaven, I praise You for everything You have allowed me to go through, for I know You work all things together for my good. Guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus with Your peace, so I can rest in Your holy presence from all the worries of life. Thank You for covering me, and I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
